    It is interesting that the PCI can only supply 5W. Most of the websites I've visited regarding pi 5 compatibility all say the samsung EVO 980 PRO 500GB and 1TB models are compatible and then VoltLog says 5W max and both of those pull more than 5W. We will see.

    Personally, I'm done buying RIGOL equipment. That boot time is unacceptable. I develop hardware and software for touch screen Industrial displays running 3D graphics and use Linux. We boot in under 10 seconds and Linux, kernel itself, can boot within one second. I can't fathom one reason why this case would be any different. On top of all this is the fact RIGOL will not stand behind their product. I have one of their DP832 power supplies with the well known reboot problem (google it if you want to know more about it). RIGOL wants me to pay for a repair on a known engineering mess up. I'm done trying to save a few bucks on cheap equipment... sticking with FLUKE.

    I bought one of these. After I found it having 1.5v noise spikes on 12v at 1A, I stopped using it. Probably ok as battery charger.

    I have this charger and it is great. This and my ugreen (which was more expensive) are the only car chargers I've personally come across that will step-up voltage to do 20V output with 12V input, and so are able to charge my Asus Zenbook OLED, though only at ~45W with PD as you observed. My Poco F5 Pro, though phone itself is 67w max, is able to get full speed charging through it. However Xiaomi/Poco use a proprietary protocol to do this which they make quite unclear. Though that is why the manual states that only their devices can utilize the full capability of the charger. It is not USB-PD nor PPS, so the usual trigger devices will not be able to activate this full power mode. When it is running in USB-PD mode, which is indicated by the charger glowing blue (glows orange in Xiaomi full power mode), it is presumably "supposed" to be capped at 45W (the typical 20V - 2.25A), but has a bit of extra headroom before the protection trips. They also explicitly say to use the included cable because their protocol requires an extra pin and wire to work. A regular USB 2.0 C-C cable (4 wire) can't trigger the full power mode, however I have a Aukey USB 3.0 C-C that will, presumably as it's a 9 wire so it does connect the extra pin (and then some).

    This is a very weird meter. Banana jacks are 'sideways' compared to any other bench multimeter. The autorange bug is just unforgivable. As mentioned before, but this is taste-sensitive, the font ugly and for a 5.5 digit meter it's strange it is 'only' 120.000 counts. Form factor is scope-like but on a bench with a more or less fixed set-up this would take up more space than a traditional model. I don't know what Rigol wants with this contraption to be honest.

    Rigol have responded saying that they have their development team working on a firmware update to solve the issues mentioned in the video as soon as possible. Once the new fw is available, I'll do a follow-up video.

    The autoranging bug is a lack of proper, systematic testing at Rigol.....and the lack of "what if" testing that I see sooooo many companies seem to forget about. Net result, robustness of software design is lacking. Hopefully they will fix soon.......it's a dangerous bug!

    I think I would have to try one of these out first to see if the form factor works for me…….am always open to something new. For my RUclips videos it could work for me......large text (font sucks though), not so easy to topple over, touchscreen, Webview DMM, no batteries....hmmm!

      I was under the same feeling until I started using these modern meters for my everyday measurements/tasks. When you start seeing how they make your life easier by increasing your productivity you start moving away from the old ones. But this obviously depends on user preference and on how often you use such a multimeter and how your workbench and workflow looks like.

    The autoranging falsely indicating a very low voltage when there's a high voltage present is a recall worth bug. It looks like it may be the weirdness that happens with some opamps when the input voltage gets too close or beyond the supply rails, or it might be some arithmetic bug.

    If anyone needs info...I had a problem with the ceramic capacitor c14 that goes from the varistor to ground, and because of it I had 13m ohm in the resistance mode and it was on the display instead of OL. You drew my attention to the varistor, but then I saw that the capacitor was faulty. Thanks man, good video

    I was going to get one of these for my bench to sit alongside my DHO914 on a vesa mount, however after watching a few reviews including this one, the broken autoranging from factory and the sub-par zero timestamp data-logging put me off, additionally the main metering font is horrible - keep it simple, it's a meter not a billboard, there are also some UI elements that are simply confusing to work with and as you showed unhelpful error messages. Nobody is going to spend €340-440 on a DMM that has one of its main features completely broken from the factory, they have already put out firmware updates and have not fixed the autoranging which suggests to me that it is more likely to be a hardware bug than a software issue, i.e. unfixable. They need to revise this model's many issues, fix all of the problems and produce a new model/series where everything works out of the box and provide a product option in black like the DHO900 series so those of us who own DHO900's could have a matching DMM.

      I have compiled a list with the things I think could be improved/fixed in this meter and sent it to Rigol. We'll see how they respond. On the suggestion of having a black Rigol DMM, I'm thinking they are probably working on that and will be a higher spec model that will have a black finish.

      @@voltlog I appreciate that you are giving them feedback on these issues, hopefully they will respond and/or release updates with all of these issues fixed, if it is a hardware issue causing the autoranging to return invalid readings then I'd expect them to create a new model/sku in respect of any hardware/design changes in order to differentiate the models properly. If they are working on a black DMM with an improved feature set and none of these issues [which should have never passed QA] then that would be something to look out for. :)

    That font is awful for the number readout. Also don’t like the artificial yellow glow on the screen reducing the contrast. Don’t like diode mode as a 2nd function, use that way more than capacitance mode. They should be swapped.

    If the DM858 multimeter doesn't have a setting option to swap that simulated VFD font with a normal solid font, the DM858 comes across as a gimmick product for customers who are more interested in form over function. That simulated VFD font adds no value, it only subtracts value.

    That font, just... why?! I also love that the numbers are huge but those lines. Form factor is interesting but if I was in the market that would 100% put me off that model. They used a similar font on the DP900 series power supplies as well. Rigol stop trying to be fancy! Don't try to make this your "thing" like the goofy shaped buttons on some of your other gear.

    That measurement display is awful. They're obviously trying to make it look like a fixed-display LCD or VFD, but the implementation looks very bad. Their use of a proportionally spaced font (impossible on a true fixed LCD or VFD) makes the digits jitter back and forth as the numbers change or when the minus sign comes and goes. At 14:10 the changing least significant digits made the whole measurement display jitter vertically by one or two pixels. They should change to solid digits, use a fixed-space font, right justify the measurement and fix the vertical jitter. The bar graph and data logging issues point to a problem in Rigol's design center, and this is where the Chinese manufacturers really differ from western companies. Their product designers and engineers know how to make an instrument that takes measurements, but they don't really understand how it's used by customers. A bar graph on a voltmeter can be a useful tool, but only if it's implemented properly; otherwise it's just a bullet point in the sales brochure. Likewise, data logging is very useful but only if it records time-correlated information. Rigol's implementation is utterly useless. Fortunately, the meter's problems could be fixed with firmware updates, but will Rigol actually do anything about them?

      Sigh... those line presumably try to emulate the look of a faux-segment-LCD display that would have to cut up the number along all those lines into sub-segments in order to display each number by "lighting" a subset of them. I hate it too...

      It basically depends on the measuring principle the meter is based on. If you use a classic ADC, you basically have an oscilloscope and can be as fast as you want (within reason) but you won't be particularly precise. If you use dual slope capacitor charging-discharging you can be as precise as you want but you will not be doing 10k readings.

    A little disappointing from Rigol. I'd expect the QC to better. Seems manufacturers just send out buggy products to get them on the shelf and fix it in post later. Maybe... I use Agilent 34401A meters. Because I can TRUST them, not for their features.

      Well.. some users because of their setup/workflow can use an older meter just fine, Others that need the modern features, increased productivity like myself, will prefer a newer meter.

    Are yiu just winging it, and you have no interrest in actually checking this device and its features, it got a shutload of things packed up its sleeve, that you don't see in most other loads like CC+CV, CR+CV, CP+CV (PC) alongside PC software, and sweep/scan, transcient, testing LED drivers, and here the stacked dynamic C?+CV can also be very powerful for working with LEDs and sensitive devices, it got extensive listing test feature, it got pass & fail, and you can literally mix and match on many of these features.. and I'm only referring to the old non + model... does this + got more, but you have no interest in checking it.. you handle like its a 20 dollar static load. It is simply unboxing, turn it on, see if its accurate and take the top of and look inside and notthing more while second guess the design with a Dunning Kruger mindset, that cant comprehend that the internals originate from other models..-.. what exactly are you reviewing?.. clearly not the product and its features when you dont even check if the features work as intended. - could be interesting to see, also its PC software or its dynamic C(?)+CV features and how well they work and the usecases where such test scenarios could be handy.. and features that n0t many loads got, unless you pay up int he four digit to fx GW INtek PEL3000&5000 series Maybe IM asking to much from this romanian dude, that is solely ho-ho-ho'ing for China.. but you should at least check the units own loadfeatures and if they work, as that is the biggest problem with these CN units.. western people cant return them, as it will cost to much as they are heavy / bulky, and if a vital feature doesn't work.. your literally straight out of luck, and cant do jack, and likely why China are looking for people like channelholder, where the moral bar ain't that high and sadly with strict guidelines for NOT digging down into the features and remember to label it as a "review".. Either way - if the reviewer looked at the internals between the new plus+one and the older units, it should be clear that its a massive cost optimised stepdown unit, these + units... look at the internal side by side.. or just the weight.. ET5410 = 3700g ET5410+ 2900g but then again who cares why the older one were +25% heavier, than this new "China Enhanced variant"?? doesn't matter when "Romanian influencers" needs to push a narrative dictated by sellers in China.
